It has been noted that there are over 4,000 displays of the Ten Commandments and related Judeo-Christian symbols (such as the Nativity Scene, depictions of Moses, etc) in government owned establishments throughout the United States of America.  Have you ever stopped to wonder why there are so many symbols of Christianity in our country?  Our Pledge of Allegiance contains the affirmation that our country is "One Nation Under God."  Have you ever wondered why those words found their way into the Pledge?  Why does our nation's currency promote an allegiance to God via our nation's motto, "In God We Trust"?  Could it be that these evidences point to our country's foundation, to the fact that our Founding Fathers established our country's laws and principles for morality and government on the Judeo-Christian value system? 

These obvious and abundant acknowledgements of Christianity reveal that one doesn't have to be a U.S. historian or spend laborious hours researching the writings and documents of our founding fathers in order to discover that our nation was built upon a foundation steeped in Judeo-Christian doctrine as found in the Bible.  But what about the cry from those in our country that say there must be a "separation of church and state"?  Well we know that this language does not exist in the U.S. Constitution or any founding document of the United States.  But a few liberal judges have deemed it so.  It is not only unconstitutional but illogical to attempt to separate the "church" from the "state" in the United States because our country's moral and legal foundation is based on principles of Biblical Christianity.  Current attempts to remove our country's foundation are ill-advised.

A strong foundation is necessary if a building is to fulfill the mission of its architects and builders to stand tall, to provide its intended service to its inhabitants, and to endure for generations.  Likewise, our nation was built on a strong and enduring foundation by God-honoring people who knew that a free society could only withstand the winds of time by maintaining its roots deep in the nurturing soil of Biblical principles of law and morality and belief in a divine standard for absolute truth.  George Washington, our country's first president, wrote, "Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports."  Our second president and signer of The Declaration of Independence, John Adams, wrote, "It is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand." 

Signer of the U.S. Constitution and The Declaration of Independence, Benjamin Franklin, noted during the Constitutional Convention in 1787, "I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid?  We have been assured, Sir, in the Sacred Writings, that 'except the Lord build the House, they labor in vain that build it.' I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without His concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the Builders of Babel.  We shall be divided by our partial local interests; our projects will be confounded, and we ourselves shall become a reproach and bye word down to future ages.  And what is worse, mankind may hereafter from this unfortunate instance, despair of establishing governments by human wisdom and leave it to chance, war and conquest.  I therefore beg leave to move that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven and its blessings on our deliberations be held in this Assembly every morning before we proceed to business, and that one or more of the clergy of this city be requested to officiate in that service."[1]

I could go on and on.

Now I'm not advocating that every American citizen has to be a Christian.  Nor am I saying that there should be a national Christian church or even a requirement for certain religious beliefs.  That of course would be unconstitutional.  I am advocating that our nation's Christian heritage is indisputable and that before we completely blow away our country's Christian foundation, we should first count the cost.  We had better look closer as to why our country has become the most productive and successful society and economy in the history of the world.  We had better make an effort to educate ourselves on the true facts.  There are those in our culture who right now are jack-hammering away at our country's foundation.  A cultural and governmental coup attempt is in progress, a coup attempt fought not with bullets but rather with misinformation and cultural manipulation.  As a young child I learned what would happen if I pulled the bottom block out from under the stack...I topple the building.  Citizens, we must step forward to prevent the demolition of our country's foundation and the resultant toppling of our country. 

Our Fathers paid a hefty price in lives, blood, wealth, and suffering to establish our "One Nation Under God."  Are you willing to take a stand, to endeavor to educate yourself on the issues, and to obtain a great command of the facts?  Are you willing to speak forth in your circle of influence in order to reestablish our nation's great heritage?  The last line of The Declaration of Independence states, "And for the support of this Declaration, with firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor."  I believe it will take an equal commitment from our citizenry to reestablish our country's foundation and prevent the toppling of this great land of liberty.
