NEWS UPDATE

McCorvey (“Roe”), Parker, to Petition Supreme Court to Overturn Roe v Wade

Tomorrow, January 18, 2004, will be a historic day in the long road to reverse America’s shameful complicity in the crime of abortion. The Supreme Court of the United States in Washington DC will be petitioned to overturned the landmark legalization case Roe v Wade of 1973.

Allan Parker of the Justice Foundation of  San Antonio TX, will petition the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v Wade, and by his side will be Norma McCorvey, the former “Jane Roe” of that case, who is now a Christian and an active opponent of abortion.

Both McCorvey and Parker were interviewed for Rare Jewel Magazine, whose “Sanctity of Life” issue (Jan/Feb 2005) will be published later this month. Both exclusive interviews delve into the spiritual, personal, moral, and legislative issues surrounding Roe v Wade and other abortion cases, as well as various bills that are pending and laws that have been passed across America. The interviews and the full magazine’s coverage deal with issues of cloning, euthanasia, abandoned babies, transplantation, mercy-killing controversies like that surrounding Terri Schiavo of Florida, and the commerce of the abortion industry.

The issue contains articles, interviews, and essays by experts and prominent laymen active in their fields. Included are pieces by the late President Ronal Reagan, Steve Forbes, Dr Bernard Nathanson (“father of the abortion clinic, who is now a Christian opponent of abortion), Doug Phillips, and others.

On October 18, 2004, the Court of Appeals of the Fifth Circuit denied Norma McCorvey's “Rule 60” Motion (basically arguing that health, legal, and other issues have been transformed since the original ruling’s basis) to reverse Roe v Wade. The Justice Foundation will present to the United States Supreme Court on January 18, 2005 an appeal to overturn Roe.

In his Rare Jewel Magazine interview, Parker stated about his appeal: “I believe that we’re going to see God do amazing and unusual things; and in fact we have seen Him do that. It is unusual to be getting [to the Supreme Court] … during inauguration week of President Bush.

“We will be filing our petition, which requests the Court to hear

the case. We won’t know what they do with it for several months. That’s why it is a good time for people to be praying."

Washington DC churches and intercessors have joined with Christian patriots around the nation to intercede and pray for several key areas in Washington DC directly related to abortion, including the Supreme Court justices, litigants, other members of the government, and those who face considerations of unplanned pregnancies, abortion, and adoption.

Rare Jewel Media, through the interviews in the Sanctity of Life issue and Rare Jewel Insight bulletins and updates, stands side-by-side with Norma, Allan, and the Christian patriots who join in this amazing opportunity to return America to a condition of moral authority and end the offense of abortion. RJI later this week will re-cap the events and reactions in Washington.
