MYTHS, LIES, & HALF-TRUTHS CONFERENCE
1. When/Where: Helena, MT; Oct 13-14, 2006
How many times have you been left speechless when you heard the following objections to Christians getting involved in the issues of the day?
“Jesus didn't get involved in politics.”
“Christians should remain neutral.”
“Christians should just preach the gospel.”
“Religion and politics don't mix.”
These and many other objections are evaluated and answered at the Myths, Lies, and Half-Truths Conference. Learn what God's Word says about these oft-cited, but rarely examined, challenges to Christian activism (a.k.a. being “salt and light”). The Church can no longer survive on the sidelines.
Speakers include Rare Jewel Magazine founder, Tim Ewing; Gary DeMar, President of American Vision and Editor of Biblical Worldview Magazine; and David Barrett, director of Biblical Worldview Learning Center.
Co-sponsored by: American Vision, Biblical Worldview Learning Center, Montana Coalition of Home Educators, The Education Station, and Your Network of Praise.

You won’t want to miss this bold example of the influence pastors once had in America…a standard we must return to.
Rev Hitchcock is the great(5x)-grandfather of Tim Ewing who will preach an Election Sermon in the old Supreme Court room in the Montana State Capitol building on Friday, October 13, 2006 at 10:00am. Conference attendees are encouraged to come early to attend this important event that is FREE to the public (see more information below). Seating is limited.
After registering, you will also receive a FREE copy of Gary DeMar’s new book, Myths, Lies, & Half-Truths: How Misreading the Bible Neutralizes Christians.
In this book, Gary addresses these prominent misconceptions: "Jesus didn't get mixed up in politics;" "You can't impose your morality on other people;" "There's a separation between church and state;" "It's never right to resist authority;" "We're living in the last days;" "Christians should remain neutral;" "Christians should just 'preach the gospel;'" "It's never right to judge what people do;" "Politics is dirty;" "Religion and politics do not mix;" "Our citizenship is in heaven;" "God's kingdom is not of this world." These and many more objections are studied, evaluated, and answered in this succinctly-written book. The future of Christianity in America and around the world is at stake. This just may be the most important book you will ever read (hardback; 300 pages; retail value $24.95).

THE ELECTION SERMON: RESTORING A GREAT AMERICAN TRADITION
On Friday, October 13, in the tradition of America’s Founding Fathers and Pastor Patriots, Tim Ewing will preach an Election Sermon at the State Capitol in Helena, Montana. The message will be delivered in the stately old Supreme Court room beginning at 10:00am.
The Election Sermon is a centuries-long American tradition that unfortunately faded from practice in the late 1800s. Election Sermons were preached to Governors and legislatures, at their invitation, each year on Election Day. It was a great privilege and honor for a minister to be chosen to preach the annual Election Sermon.
The Election Sermon tradition began as early as 1633. According to John Wingate Thornton, who in 1860 authored The Pulpit of the American Revolution, these sermons served as a “perpetual memorial, continued down through the generations from century to century, still bearing witness that our fathers ever began their civil year and its responsibilities with an appeal to Heaven, and recognized Christian morality as the only basis of good laws.”
Historian, theologian, and author, J.T. Headley in his 1861 book, The Chaplains and Clergy of the American Revolution, notes, “These [election] sermons were as much a part of the stately and imposing ceremonies as the election itself…the clergy were not a whit behind the ablest statesmen of the day in their knowledge of the great science of human government.”
Americans, colonists, and public officials of America’s past benefited from the annual Election Sermon. These sermons were so highly valued by the people, they were often printed (at considerable expense) and distributed among the citizenry and likewise published in local newspapers throughout the colonies. The Election Sermon regularly equipped citizens and candidates for public office with Biblical principles of civil government, qualifications for office, Godly stewardship, and an overall reminder that a Biblical foundation is mandatory for any nation to be free and prosperous.
Election sermons played a huge role in educating all citizens, especially public servants, about Biblical principles for politics and government—an American tradition that must be reinstituted. Attendees will be provided a template for a typical election sermon and instructed on how to legally gain access at no cost to preach such messages at their state and county courthouses, just as our forefathers did. It’s easier than you think!
Tim’s great(5x)-grandfather, Reverend Gad Hitchcock, preached a bold sermon on May 25, 1774 in Boston before the Massachusetts House of Representatives and the British-crown appointed Governor, General Thomas Gage. Attendees who register for the Myths, Lies, & Half-Truths Conference by September 15 will receive a free audio CD containing a re-enactment of Rev Hitchcock’s sermon.
Don’t miss this historic event…the return of a great American tradition. You will be inspired and equipped to begin a new tradition of the Election Sermon in your states and counties.
Seating is limited to less than 200 so be sure to come early and reserve your seats.
