Last night I joined my good friend Bret Smith on his television show available on Faith TV (Sky Angel). The weekly show, called “Captain Bret’s Christian Movie Show,” showcases the best of short Christian Films being produced today, along with rock solid Christian teaching designed to inspire and equip viewers to impact our culture for Christ.
Two years ago Bret founded the Georgia Christian Films Association to be an effective part of a growing movement of independent filmmakers who are working to replace Hollywood as the primary source of movie entertainment.
During last night’s broadcast, Bret and I were joined by E. Ray Moore of the Exodus Mandate as we viewed and discussed one of the short-film finalists for the upcoming 2006 Georgia Christian Film Festival, which will be held near Atlanta, GA on July 28 – 29.

2. PLEDGE PROTECTION ACT
- One more hurdle
As it did two years ago, the US House of Representatives passed Congressman Todd Akin's (R-MO) Pledge Protection Act (PPA) which protects the Pledge of Allegiance from attempts by federal courts to declare it unconstitutional because of the phrase "under God". The PPA passed easily by a vote of 260 to 167.
After passing in the House, heading into Election 2004, the US Senate failed to act upon the PPA so it died. Rep Akin had to start the process over again with the 109th Congress beginning in 2005. The first hurdle was again cleared yesterday passing in the House and once again it is up to the Republican-controlled Senate to move this legislation forward. If they don’t act upon it prior to election 2006 then this bill will once again die.
Call your two state senators and let them know we want the Senate to hold a floor vote on the PPA before November’s elections. To contact your Senators, go to:
