1. COMMENTARY
- “The Question of Our Origin”
(by Rick Marschall, Managing Editor, Rare Jewel Magazine)
The World says that Creation was not created, at least not by a Creator; that however and whenever our earliest forms were formed, it was by accident, mistake, and mutation. Therefore we humans are accidents, mistakes, and mutations, having no purpose – a past of random events, and a future of meaningless futility.
The Church says that Creation might have happened then, or then, or then. God’s Word spoke the worlds into existence… but, today, God’s Word is not a reliable font of information, wisdom, or knowledge: The Church picks and chooses what is “poetry” and Truth from the Holy Bible--an attitude that automatically vitiates whatever Truth is claimed by Scripture.
The Believer says that Jesus is the Son of God, and that belief in the heart and confession with the mouth will effect Salvation. But His words are rejected--not about charity or peace, not by confession anyway--when we see that Jesus believed there was an Adam and an Eve; and there was a Flood and a Noah. Can Therefore it is asked whether He can have been the Son of God if He, too, were deluded by foolish fables of Creationists?
The Country says Creation cannot be taught to its children; the Bible account is classified as so dangerous as to incite fierce debates and censorship. Yet those who established this government, from all backgrounds and persuasions, agreed that “we are endowed by our Creator…” and clearly did not believe that humankind was the progeny of perfidy, suddenly interrupted from an aimless existence by a “Creator” able to bestow rights. Therefore the Country has transformed itself into one that denies its God, its heritage, its purpose.
As humans we must reaffirm the Fatherhood of a Creator God; as Christians we must respect the authority of God’s Word; as active believers we must assert the harmony of Scripture, sharing the whole Gospel; as Americans we must recapture the beliefs, assumptions, and admonitions of the Founders.
Once it was Galileo and Copernicus, Christians with unorthodox views, who were decried by the establishment for their ideas. Again we see Christians who are persecuted in their own land. It is a crime--a sin, really--that Christians in America are allowing themselves to be ridiculed for believing the Bible… to be censored in the public square for advocating the Genesis account of Creation… to have their prerogatives as parents stolen from them because they dare ask that something in addition to one set of theories be taught to their children.
The rude ripping of prayer, the Bible, and Creation teaching from classrooms and public places is not merely replacing dogma with open-mindedness. It is an assault on every value that brought America to its greatness, and cannot be surrendered for any reason.
The next issue of Rare Jewel Magazine will speak with lips of knowledge [Prov 20:15] on the great issue of Creation and how we deal in America with the question of our origins. It will be a handbook of history, a roadmap of significant battlefields, and good counsel for the responses all readers can all summon in this essential fight.
2. JUL/AUG 2005 ISSUE OF RJM SHIPS!
This week, the Jul/Aug 2005 issue of Rare Jewel Magazine will be mailed. As noted above, this edition focuses on Creation and evolution.
The root cause of many of the cultural and political problems of our day is the teaching of evolution instead of Creation in American schools. A nation built upon the fundamental belief in, and sovereign authority of, the Creator God of the Bible has for the past 100 years been teaching to its citizenry that there is no God, that mankind is a cosmic accident, and therefore there can be no sovereign source of truth, of right and wrong.
We must “Begin…In the Beginning” if we’re to impact our culture and restore our nation’s foundation.
