TO SAVE TERRI: WE MUST ACT NOW!
Rare Jewel Insight: March 24, 2005

TO SAVE TERRI, WE MUST ACT NOW!

Florida Governor Jeb Bush has indicated that he may have the authority to take Terri Schiavo into the state’s protective custody in order to save her life. But as of yet, he has not acted. Reports indicate that he may do something within the hour.

Now is the time to call the Governor and encourage him to be bold, to defend this innocent life. God has placed him at this crossroads for this hour, how will he respond, how will we respond?

What is it about our country that a situation like this could be happening? How can our government side with a husband who has breeched his marital covenant before God and government; who desires that his wife die so that he can collect what funds remain in her trust?

As Gary DeMar recently wrote, “I find it rather ironic that the political left praised the efforts of the Clinton administration when it sent armed soldiers to take Elian Gonzales from his relatives in Miami and returned him to Cuba when his mother risked her life to bring him to America. In this case, we knew the wishes of the mother. We knew what she wanted for her son, and yet the federal government intervened and turned him over to a Communist regime and a sworn enemy of the United States.”

Article I, Section 2 (“Basic Rights”) of Florida’s constitution states the following: “All natural persons, female and male alike, are equal before the law and have inalienable rights, among which are the right to enjoy and defend life and liberty ... No person shall be deprived of any right because of  race, religion, national origin, or physical disability.” [1] The courts have failed to act on this clear right, therefore, it is incumbent and lawful for another branch of government to act.

We need a strong and courageous Governor who will assert his authority to allow Terri’s parents to be restored as legal guardians for their daughter, a position they held originally.

Contact Governor Bush right now to let him know you support his efforts to save Terri.
